Prince Ellis re-elected to BDPA Cincinnati Board of Trustees

There is no secret to the professional success of Prince Ellis, Department Chair for Information Technology (IT) at Brown Mackie College ― Cincinnati. Prince simply loves change. "Some people don't like change, but change is a part of life," he says. "There's always something new coming up in IT. I always want to learn and change with it. Without change, there would be no advancement or improvement." He is quick to adapt in the innovative IT industry and often helps others become more flexible.
Prince was recently re-elected to a second two-year term (2012-2013) as the Black Data Processing Association (BDPA) - Cincinnati Chapter, Vice President of Finance. BDPA is a professional association that focuses on career advancements of African Americans in the IT industry. In this capacity, he attends monthly BDPA meetings and participates in frequent organization-sponsored events, which promote IT skills for professionals, youth, and those who share his zeal for growth. Now in his second term as VP of Finance, he will continue to manage funding for the Cincinnati chapter. During his first term, he helped generate record-breaking revenue for the organization.
Prince holds a sense of excitement about the future. His enthusiastic interest in finance and IT manifests in a strong work ethic and a commitment to give back to the community. He regularly volunteers as an instructor, teaching computer skills to high school students and fostering an interest in technology among younger children.
Prince joined Brown Mackie College ― Cincinnati in 2007 as an IT adjunct instructor in the IT department. After six months, he was promoted to full-time instructor. He serves on various committees at the school, including the Faculty Development Leadership Team, Professional Learning Committee, Blended Task Force Committee, and Library Advisory Committee for IT / Computer Networking. In 2011, he was promoted to Department Chair. In this capacity, he manages five degree programs: Information Technology, Computer Networking & Applications, Architectural Design & Drafting, Biomedical Equipment Technology, and Office Management. "It's a lot of work and a lot of fun. My life is easier than it could be because the staff does a great job," he says.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Northern Kentucky University. He is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Argosy University. His dissertation topic? Corporate e-learning.
In his free time, Prince enjoys playing soccer, golf, tennis, and ping-pong. "When it gets cold outside, I stay warm and watch movies and football," he says. "A lot of this began with Brown Mackie College. I appreciate the opportunities to grow and the educational incentives." Prince enjoys life and looks forward to a future of change.
